Rare pair of Canadian brodekins "British Made" made by The Tecnic Boot Co. Ltd Rushden (Northamptonshire) dated 1940

Size 8

Although these boots follow the "Early-War" Canadian pattern, they were manufactured in the United Kingdom by The Tecnic Boot Co. Ltd. This situation reflects the reality of 1939–1941: at the start of the war, Canada’s footwear industry was not yet able to produce in large quantities, and the Canadian Army relied on several British manufacturers to equip its troops stationed in the United Kingdom.

British makers, including Tecnic Boot Co. Ltd, therefore produced boots built to Canadian specifications: grain-textured black leather, nine eyelets, Itshide rubber soles, and a wider Canadian profile. The result is a boot that is “Canadian” in appearance and construction, yet produced in Britain in 1940 and issued directly to Canadian forces.

This hybrid early-war production illustrates the close logistical cooperation within the Commonwealth and is considerably rarer today than the fully Canadian-made models produced from 1942 to 1944.

Copy in a magnificent state of conservation, to note a small trace of red paint on the top of a shoe.
