In the spring of 1940, the HMS Punjabi was engaged in the Norwegian campaign and participated in naval operations around Narvik, one of the first major engagements of the Royal Navy against German forces
On April 13, 1940, during the Second Battle of Narvik, the HMS Punjabi was engaged on the front line in the Norwegian fjords.
It was during this action that Harold Collins was killed in combat at the age of 18
For his meritorious conduct in operations, Harold Collins is cited to the order (Mentioned in Despatches) posthumously
This official distinction is materialized by the wearing of an oak leaf
Harold Collins is now commemorated at the Plymouth Naval Memorial, dedicated to British sailors who died at sea without a known burial
