Developed in 1942 by Colonel Rivers-MacPherson, this assault vest aimed to improve the infantryman's combat equipment by grouping directly on the torso most of the individual equipment, in addition to or replacing the 1937 Webbing Pattern brelage system.
Made of thick waterproof canvas of brown color, the Battle Jerkin has many pockets of different sizes to carry ammunition, grenades and various equipment
Introduced in 1943, and produced in relatively limited quantities, the Battle Jerkin is now considered one of the most characteristic British equipment of the assault troops engaged during the landing of June 6, 1944.
