The Welsh Guards served in the Armoured Guards Division and participated in the Normandy campaign from the summer of 1944.

Engaged in the fighting of the Norman bocage and then in the Allied advance across France, they then took part in the famous Market Garden operation in the Netherlands before continuing the campaign to Germany.
