Rare pair of J-Troop badges - 3 British Commando

Black discs on a khaki background identified as the insignia of J Troop, No.3 Commando, one of the troops of the famous British No.3 Commando.

Research published by Jon Mills in Badges on Battle Dress edited by Wardens Publishing, pages 373-380,  indicates that the A-J troops of the No.3 Commando each wore a distinctive colour.

To date, only two models have been identified with certainty: D Troop's skull and J Troop's black disc.

A similar badge seems to be visible on the sleeve of a member of the No.3 Commando in the IWM H22618 photograph taken on the return of the Dieppe raid in August 1942.

Piece of extreme rarity, rarely offered on the market of the specialised collection Commando.
