Hessian cover helmet MKII British Army 1942

Hessian cover helmet mainly used during the North African and Italian campaigns, but also used during the Dieppe Raid on 19 August 1942 by the men of 3 Commando 

This example is of the regulation type and made by B.C.N.B. Ltd 1942

This manufacturer is apparently the only one to make this type of helmet cover and it is rare to find a marking, as well as its control number H6 or H12 (present in this one)

There was also a green-tinted version for troops fighting in the Pacific
