The aerodrome construction groups consisted of Royal Engineer Road Construction Companies and Pioneer Corps Companies.

The red and blue colors represent those of the Royal Engineers, the red and green those of the Pioneer Corps

The main task of the group was to build airfields in advanced areas and on their insignia the white lines represent the typical layout of the runways
