The 2nd Special Air Service Regiment created in 1943, is one of the most iconic special forces units of the British army during the Second World War.
Trained in North Africa under the command of William G. "Bill" Stirling, it brings together men from the first clandestine commandoes, including the Small Scale Raiding Force (SSRF).
After its debut in Tunisia and then in Italy, the 2nd SAS joined the new SAS Brigade in 1944, engaged in Europe alongside the French and Belgian forces of the SAS.
Parachuted in small teams, the men of the 2nd SAS play a major role in the disorganization of German troops, especially in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
Recognized for its exceptional efficiency and bold operations, the 2nd SAS remains today one of the major symbols of the Allied Special Forces.
