US M-1936 “British Made” musette bag, manufactured by J. & A. Hillman and dated 1944

The bag is named to Tec-5 Charles W. Lodrey, ASN 31365390, of the 1099th Engineer Utilities Detachment.

It also bears the marking A.P.O. 655, corresponding to Headquarters, 12th Army Group.

The 1099th Engineer Utilities Detachment was a specialised Corps of Engineers unit responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the installations required by 12th Army Group Headquarters during its advance across Europe.

Charles W. Lodrey is documented in the Morning Report dated 25 November 1944 at Verdun.

The 1099th Engineer Utilities Detachment was also officially credited with participation in the Normandy Campaign.
